Some might well call it lucky that Tombola has just scooped a prestigious gaming award, but when you take into account that the operator also won the award two years in a row, there certainly appears to be consistency.
Tombola is one of the UK’s leading bingo brands and is based in Wylam Wharf in the East End of Sunderland and its team consists of over 200 employees. As well as being rewarded with the ‘Bingo Operator of the Year’ award, Tombola was also shortlisted for another three award categories, not to mention that the brand was also highly commended in the awards for Socially Responsible operator, Mobile Bingo Operator, and Customer Services Operator.
Delight from Tombola Management
Phil Cronin, Tombola’s chief executive, was delighted to receive the award for the third year in a row. He said: “It’s a real feather in our cap, as we were up against the biggest names in gaming. I’m thrilled for the whole Tombola team; the award is recognition of their hard work, dedication and innovation.” Still commenting on the awards, he compared the event to the Oscars, but for the bingo industry.
As previously mentioned, Tombola is already familiar with experiencing success at the national gaming awards ceremony. Of the previous five years, Tombola has claimed the top prize four times. Not only that, they also managed to bag the socially responsible operator of the year award in 2013.
The prestigious awards ceremony took place at the Roundhouse in London, on Monday 24 November, and an element of comedy was injected into the night thanks to the event’s host, comedian Ed Byrne. This marked the tenth year of this ceremony, during which 25 different categories of prizes are awarded.
Driven by Local Performance
Tombola is very active when it comes to developing its own online games for both HTML and mobile apps. Interestingly, the firm is one of the largest employers of game designers and developers, and its forward-thinking mentality is evident by the fact that Tombola has recently created strategic partnerships with Sunderland College and the University of Sunderland. These exciting arrangements will lead to the launch of the Tombola Academy, designed to train the next generation of tech talent.
With years of experience, Tombola certainly has a solid understanding of the game of bingo. The operator has witnessed the complete transformation from traditional offline games into the modern online games that we play today. The well-established bingo brand holds a gaming licence in Gibraltar, which is also where its secure gaming servers are located.
Quite simply, what makes Tombola so unique is that every aspect of the business is managed in-house. From coming up with new promotions to improving the gaming software to marketing the site, everything is done from its base in Sunderland by a talented team of professionals.
With Tombola displaying such dedication to providing a high-quality online bingo offering, few operators will stand a chance of displacing Tombola from atop its position at the forefront of the industry.
