Gala Bingo Sets Another World Record

Gala Bingo seems unwilling to halt its attempts at breaking records. Not long after making the headlines for playing a game with the largest ever set of bingo balls, the UK-based bingo operator has been at it again. However, instead of playing with massive bingo balls, Gala decided to set a new Guinness World Record for playing a game with the largest ever bingo card, measuring a massive five metres by two metres.

Money Raised for Vital Charity

The world record was set at Gala Bingo’s prestigious Christmas Party in London on Friday 6 December. As well as setting another world record, the night helped to raise a generous £6,000 for Gala’s charity partner and well-known aid organisation the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS).

The volunteers of the charitable organisation selflessly give up their time to ensure that thousands of older, lonely people have a happier Christmas. RVS did this by ensuring that each of them was able to have a traditional festive meal and enjoy some company at a time of year that can be very sad and reflective for some.

In the lead-up to the VIP Christmas Party, Gala raised some money for the organisation through its bingo site by providing special charity bingo games. Throughout the month of November, Gala offered its players the chance to play games in which some of the earnings would go towards RVS. Whilst playing the bingo games, players had the chance to claim one of ten pairs of tickets for the special Christmas VIP event, which would have allowed them to take part in setting the exciting new world record.

UK Celebs Make Appearance

There were a number of high profile individuals in attendance at the special event. Among the many celebrities was James Jordan, who shot to fame after appearing in Celebrity Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing. As well as James Jordan, there were some stars from the popular TV show TOWIE, including Grace Andrews, Leah Wright, Charlie King, and George Harrison. Rickie from Geordie Shore and the glamorous Nicola McLean also made appearances. There was certainly no shortage of support on the celeb front.

Gala Bingo is developing a reputation for partnering with charity organisations in these sorts of events. Setting new world records at exciting events is certainly consistent with Gala’s marketing slogan of being the ‘happiest online bingo brand’.

When Gala set the record for playing with the largest bingo balls back in summer of 2013, money was raised for the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign. In the run up to the more recent event, Gala’s brand director said the following: ‘We were keen to do something to support such a great charity, particularly in the run up to Christmas’.  The Gala representative went on to say that bingo is all about delivering social benefits and that their charitable endeavours are designed to reduce loneliness this Christmas.

We have to take our hats off to Gala when it organises these sorts of events. Hopefully we’ll see some more money raised again soon.
